The signal to noise ratio may be decreased by external interference, which will vary depending on the instrument's proximity to emissive sources such as power lines, fluorescent lighting fixtures, incandescent lamp dimmers, and computers. This interference may be remedied by moving the theremin away from such sources.

The printed circuit assembly is furnished with a trimming potetiometer ("ZERO CAL") that is adjusted to provide the correct relationship of hand distance and tone frequency. The calibration procedure is described in the Minimum Theremin Kit Assembly Instructions. To ensure proper calibration, this product should be used with the antenna assembly described in the Instructions.
